ir freight IT specialist Champ Cargosystems has acquired
electronic communications company Traxon Europe from its majority shareholders, which include Lufthansa Cargo and Air France. According to Champ CEO John Johnston, “the combination of Champ’s software solutions and Traxon’s wide network will result in the most comprehensive suite of
software and distribution services available in the market.” Traxon
Europe becomes a
subsidiary of Champ and will continue to operate under the Traxon name. Traxon Europe’s managing director Felix Keck also welcomed the deal, saying that the two companies shared the same strategic objectives: “The portfolio of electronic air cargo solutions we can jointly offer is a clear
benefit for both company’s customers and the wider air cargo market.” Luſthansa board member for
product and sales, Dr Andreas Otto added that the sale would help the airline concentrate on its core business, but Traxon would remain a major partner of Luſthansa Cargo as a neutral platform and provider of electronic communication solutions.
Taking the headache out of container transport

AS has unveiled a new generation of cloud technology for planning,
pricing, booking and execution of inland container haulage. Developed as an extension to IAS Dispatch-Manager, a web solution that automates the container haulage work order process - the latest
solutions are designed to
help ocean carriers, cargo owners, logistics providers and carriers connect and collaborate more effectively. All too often, container haulage is a fragmented and manually-driven process, says IAS, conducted largely by phone, fax and email. Poor transparency gives

little chance to optimise truck and container utilisation across the many thousands of carriers serving import and export operations with limited first and last mile visibility. Working
together with the
core DispatchManager system, the three new IAS modules – DispatchOptimizer, DispatchTender and DispatchTariff – aim to address these issues. The new solutions will be delivered via the IAS network, which includes over 1,600 connected motor carrier offices in the US, along with thousands of other intermodal trading partners worldwide. DispatchOptimizer uses
DispatchManager to eliminate dead heading of empty import and export containers. DispatchTender is described
as a neutral negotiation platform that allows originators to broadcast work to one or many motor carriers within their network. Motor carriers that receive offers may then place a bid for the work order, but jobs are only assigned when both sides have signed off on the rate. DispatchTariff is a centralized,
automated rate management solution that streamlines the rate request and tariff maintenance process.

electronic customs clearance system to air freight in more than 90 countries, including the UK. The free-of-charge solution enables customers to integrate order processing, shipment preparation and commercial invoice data and then transmits
data in advance of the shipment to worldwide customs offices. Errors should be reduced because information is stored electronically, and the system also eliminates the possibility of submitting incomplete paperwork, the main cause of delay for international deliveries, says the carrier. The new capability is currently
