NOF

ENERGY a leading UK energy sector business support

organisation A BALANCED ENERGY MIX

NOF Energy has, for a number of years, advocated the important role offshore renewables has to play in achieving a successful balanced energy mix for the UK and beyond.

As the business development organisation for oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sectors, NOF Energy works closely with around 400 member organisations and strategic partners to ensure that its members are in a strong position to secure a proportion of existing and emerging global markets.

PROMOTION AND DIVERSIFICATION

One of NOF Energy’s priorities in recent times has been to promote to its members the importance of diversification across of the energy sectors.

Director Business Development, Joanne Leng MBE, explains: “Our members have extensive experience operating in global oil & gas sectors and have developed skills products and services, which are applicable to other areas of the energy industry including nuclear and offshore renewables.

“Through NOF Energy’s suite of business development services, we have engaged with the supply chain to widen our memberships’ understanding of the growing opportunities that exist in these emerging sectors.”

A strong proportion of NOF Energy’s members are already operating across multiple sectors and, as such, a specialised supply chain for the offshore renewables industry is appearing, particularly in the North East of England.

Although a national organisation, NOF Energy has a strong cluster of members located in the North East of England, which is globally-recognised as a major energy sector region.

POTENTIAL – NOF ENERGY AND ENERGI COAST

NOF Energy identified the strengths of these companies and their potential to use their collective capabilities to showcase the North East of England’s ability to become a hub for global offshore renewables activities.

The organisation was instrumental in bringing together the members of the newly-formed North East England Renewables Group, Energi Coast.

Energi Coast will promote the region’s offshore renewables sector and support the North East’s ambitions to secure a proportion of the £1billion global market.

£400M COLLECTIVE INVESTMENT

Together, these renewable energy supply chain leaders have invested almost £400M in offshore renewables and currently employs 6,000 people in the region.

A key element of Energi Coast is highlighting the integrated supply chain, which exists in the region and the willingness of its members to work together.

WORKING TOGETHER

“Collaboration is an essential part of Energi Coast,” explains Joanne.

“The group contains like-minded businesses that are passionate about the North East of England’s ability to effectively service the offshore renewables industry.

“Working together they have the capabilities to deliver a large proportion of the sector’s supply chain requirements, which, through an integrated supplier process, will have a positive impact on making projects more cost efficient.”

The power of collaboration between members of the supply chain is highly visible across the NOF Energy network and demonstrates how the synergies that exist across the network can lead to securing new business.

“Inter-trading, joint ventures and collaboration between members have always been one of NOF Energy’s biggest success stories,” says Joanne.

“One of NOF Energy’s key strengths is its network of members and partner organisations. By bringing together like-minded and compatible businesses it allows them to use their combined skills, expertise and experience across global energy markets.”
