WIND ENERGY NETWORK

THE ANGEL OF

OUR FRONT COVER IMAGE IS THE ICONIC ANGEL OF THE NORTH, DESIGNED BY ANTONY GORMLEY

The reasoning behind this decision was mainly because our ‘Spotlight On’ regional focus feature in this edition is the North East of England and spans (honestly no pun intended) some 36 pages. We have had so much interest from the area that we thought we would give it centre- stage, and therefore the front cover.

OILING THE GEARS – THE IMPORTANCE OF LUBRICANTS

As with many of its component parts lubricants play a vital role in the success of the wind energy industry.

Listening to one of the many

knowledgeable and passionate speakers at the Quo Vadis conference in Belfast recently stating that ‘if you don’t have turbine blades you don’t have an industry’ the whole subject of what is the most important area/component in ensuring the industry is successful is not easy to ascertain.

THE NORTH

There is also some strange similarity between the sculpture and that of a wind turbine, so we were wholly convinced that it was the right thing to do – we hope you will agree.

We also hope you enjoy finding out more about the region and the people involved in this very substantial feature.

The answer is of course that no single area/component is any more important than any other – they are all important. As we have found in this industry the one common factor which will ensure our success, more importantly than any other, is teamwork – working together.

Please feel free to get in touch and let us know what area/component is the most important to you – it always makes good reading.
