Marlow-based Wireless Logic, specialists in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, walked away with the trophy for the Dynamic Business Award, sponsored by Deloitte.
The company is Europe’s leading provider of aggregated M2M data services, providing the SIM cards, airtime contracts and communications infrastructure needed to connect devices to the rapidly-expanding “internet of things”.
In the UK alone, more than half a million machines communicate using Wireless Logic’s services, in applications ranging from vehicle trackers and vending machines to CCTV cameras and credit card payment handsets.
The company has seen tremendous growth of over 698% in five years and co-founder and managing director Oliver Tucker, says the ongoing expansion of the telecoms and IT sectors is a big plus.
“It really helps that the markets we are in are showing growth rates of 25%-30% and there are not many industries increasing at that rate,” he said. “Combining that with our ability to demonstrate real value-added services and benefits to customers, as well as our continued innovation, has enabled us to stay ahead of the market and take market share away from our competitors.”

of vertical sectors which its equipment is used in, works to its benefit.
“Today our SIMs provide a piece of the jigsaw to enable information to go from A to B reliably and securely and I am often amazed at the applications that our equipment is used for,” he added.
“We are coming across new applications on an almost daily basis and dealing with experts and systems integrators in all sorts of markets. We were pioneers in this marketplace and that’s why we still have as much enthusiasm for the business today, as we did when we founded the company 10 years ago.”
Recently, in a deal worth £35 million, Tucker and co-founder Phil Cole bought the business back from Peter Jones with the support of private equity house ECI Partners. This autumn, Wireless Logic was named in the 2011 Deloitte Technology Fast 50, a ranking of the 50 fastest- growing technology companies in the UK
The judges were looking for companies who could demonstrate they had taken advantage of market changes, and shown energy, enthusiasm and positivity in the way they interact with customers, suppliers and employees, combined with innovation and dynamism.

In second place was ByBox from Wantage, which leads the way in box-based logistics and has achieved a £44m turnover in just 10 years. The award was collected by marketing manager Caroline Rooke (pictured top right). Office design and fit out experts Area Sq, who specialise in creating innovative, sustainable and inspiring office interiors came third. Gary Chandler, managing director, collected the award (bottom right). Highly commended certificates went to Talaris, Eton Travel Group and TNT Post UK.
