Muddy Days at Fair Hill, continued
the CCI** to move up to second, claiming the USEF National CCI** Reserve Championship. Kylie Lyman held on to win the division and the championship. Colleen said that the show jumping course was “a really good test after the cross-country that we had. Dillon was such a trooper.” Colleen went on to say that Dil- lon was not his normal springy self but that he put in the best round he could. “T is has been one of the best learning
years that I have ever had. I was able to en- joy the whole weekend and play this game at the highest levels of the sport,” she add- ed. Colleen recently returned to Maryland after completing the four-star at Burghley in September with her other horse, Shiraz (see “From Fair Hill To Burghley” on T e Equiery’s archives at
equiery.com). Next season, Colleen plans to continue compet- ing at the four-star level with Shiraz but is thinking that Dillon might be competing at the lower levels with a new rider. “I’m look- ing for the right person for him to teach. He has taught me so much and although I know he could move back up to Advanced and do another three-star, I’d rather let him take some- one else up through the levels,” she said. Tracey Bienemman dropped one rail with Zara to fi nish in 25th place overall. She was
the highest-placing rider in the 22-24-year-old category, thus she was named the USEF Na- tional CCI** 22-24-Year-Old Eventing Cham- pion. Although Tracey was more proud about completing her (and her horse’s) fi rst two-star, she admitted to being very excited when the or-
show jump round to place 31st overall. She is planning on competing him again next Febru- ary in Aiken at the Intermediate level looking towards the spring two-star at Jersey Fresh. Af- ter that, she hopes to have him back at Fair Hill for the three-star next October. Marilyn Little-Meredith jumped double
clean in show jumping with RF Rovano Rex to be the only Maryland entry to place in the CCI*** ribbons. T e pair placed ninth overall.
Daniel Clasing and Houston had a bit of Valerie Vizcarrondo and Playtime in the CCI**
ganizers told her to stick around for the awards presentation. “She is a tough mare to ride in dressage but she’s fantastic to jump. After rid- ing at Fair Hill, I feel we are both prepared to move up to Advanced next spring,” Tracey added. Valerie Vizcarrondo and Playtime put in what she called an “absolutely brilliant double clear”
To the many wonderful friends we have known and grown to love
in our years at Reddemeade; to the generations of kids we have been privileged to watch grow into caring, hard-working, responsible adults; to the clients who supported us in good times and in tough times; to our ever reliable vendors and suppliers; to our miracle working vets and farriers; to the greatest staff any horse business ever had, and, of course, to the horses: Thank you. Bless you. And wishing you a joyous holiday season and many happy canters in the years ahead.

trouble in show jumping, gaining 16 jump and one time fault to fi nish in 21st place. “At the Advanced level, he typically is a four or eight faulter,” Daniel explained, adding that Houston’s back was a bit sore from the extra eff ort he had to make jumping from the mud on cross-country. “I couldn’t be happier in my horse. Especially with hav- ing such a short time for him to come back
to this level after his injury,” he concluded. If Houston continues to advance in his training as Daniel hopes he will, he is looking towards a Rolex debut in the spring. Boyd Martin jumped clean with Ying Yang
Yo to reclaim fi rst place and the win for the CCI***.
