Three offices, one big operation as Grant Thornton homes in on the Thames Valley

Grant Thornton has reorganised its Thames Valley operation in order to focus on a region that is not only a huge growth area for Grant Thornton, but also for the UK economy

The firm has pooled together its three offices in the Thames Valley – in Oxford, Reading and Slough – to create one Thames Valley operation, to ensure that all three offices are working together and focused on the region.

Meanwhile, the firm’s Slough office is relocating to a new building on the IQ Winnersh business park in Reading on December 1, placing Reading firmly at the centre of the operation.

Perry Burton, managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Thames Valley practice, said: “We think that the Thames Valley will be a growth area for us going forward and we wanted to make sure we had all three offices focused on and working together on the Thames Valley.

“Reading is the obvious business centre of the Thames Valley, the reorganisation in effect brings us closer to the business community. As a firm, Oxford is a real stronghold for us and we see that Reading will grow going forward, and that’s the place for us to gravitate to.

“We’re aiming for at least 10% year-on-year growth for the next four years. We believe the Thames Valley is an area of growth for Grant Thornton and for the UK economy. It’s exciting, we think it’s a great opportunity.”

The firm will have 20 partners and 270 staff across the three Thames Valley offices. The Oxford office will continue to offer its existing services and within the two Reading offices the firm will have a full service offering, including corporate finance, recovery, business reorganisation, audit, tax and accounting services.

The new offices at IQ Winnersh will see the firm taking 12,000 sq ft of grade A office space over one floor of Building 1020, a brand new building at the heart of the business park. The offices are perfect, says Burton, in a great location: “The key advantage for us is that the offices are literally just off junction 10 of the M4, so in terms of connectivity to London and the west country and Southampton, and the rest of the south region, they’re perfect.”
