A FERTILE Foundation

Focusing on people with special needs, we offer farm therapy; provide environmental and agricultural education; and build community ties. We remind people they are a part of something larger, a web which links them to the world around them.

Through education and fostering connections we strengthen bonds with nature and our neighbors, help people evolve a healthier lifestyle, and encourage them to preserve the Earth- teaching a world view, which begins with respect for self and extends to encompass respect for the world as a whole.

ASAP’s mission is to increase knowledge and awareness about the effects of the community’s population growth on our natural environment, infrastructure, taxes, and quality of life, and to encourage land use policies and mechanisms that will enable our region to reach and maintain a sustainable population size.

African American Teaching Fellows works to recruit, support, develop, and retain a cadre of African American teachers to serve the schools of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

Our work addresses the achievement gap, provides professional development and job training skills to young adults, offers invaluable role models for African American students, and prepares all children in Albemarle and Charlottesville to thrive in a diverse world.

Support for our Teaching Fellows includes: Tuition payment up to $5,000/year • Mentoring • Leadership Training • Networking in the local school systems
