Aided and abetted by comic actor Brendan Healey (left), Mark Witney of Hasselblad hands Clare Louise her award for the UK Portfolio of the Year as featured in our last edition.
I
n our Awards edition, October, some categories of winners were not identified clearly. The UK Wedding Photog- rapher was Paul Wilkinson, Overseas Wedding Photographer was José Luis Guardia Vazquez. The UK Portrait Photographer was Hossain Mahdavi, Overseas Portrait Photographer Jingna Zhang.
UK Commercial Photographer was James Crockford, Overseas Commercial Photographer José Luis Guardia Vazquez. These titles are “2011 Master Photography Awards” plus the above description, not “of the Year 2011” as in past years. Because of the proliferation of winners claiming in advertising to be “Master Photographer of the Year” and discussions with Trading Standards, MPA regions are no longer authorised to use the “of the Year” phrase in describing their awards. In the annual awards, four
“of the Year” titles were award- ed. International Photographer of the Year 2011, UK Portfolio of the Year 2011, European Portfolio of the Year 2011, and Overseas Portfolio of the Year 2011.
Winners of categories – such as for example the
MASTER PHOTOGRAPHY 38
Wedding Album class – may use 2011 after the category to describe their award. Thus: “winner of Master Photography Awards Wedding Album 2011“, “Master Photography Awards Contemporary Portrait 2011 winner”. They can also use the Awards logo.
In the last edition the caption was accidentally mixed up between the two MPA Fujifilm Wedding and Portrait competition winners. The Portrait title taken by David Calvert. The Wedding title was won by Sandra Parris.. Our apologies (digital editions were corrected).
Keda Z. Feng collects his Rest of the World Portfolio award from Risk Alliance’s Neil Klenk.
José Luis Guadia Vazquez holds his top award, joined on stage by his father JLuis senior.
