KATY B Exclusive Interview W

e caught up with Katy B in Nottingham getting her hair done!

What’s coming up for you? I still have another 3 weeks of touring UK. I’m currently writing my new album but I’m waiting to get back into the studio and work on it properly. I’ve just recorded a song with Mark Ronson for the Olympics, which is Coca Cola’s song. Me and Mark traveled the world meeting atheletes which was really fantastic. It’s been such a great expreience for me.

Is there anyone you’d like to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with The Neptunes, they would be my first choice.

Who is your ultimate man? Listen to the lyrics of my song Easy Peasy, it’s like writing a lonely hearts ad. I’d like a man to be ambitious, protect me and he has to make me laugh.

I was influenced by what comes through pirate radio stations like Garage, Dubstep and Drum’n’Bass and Grime

What was life like for you at school? It was hard going from primary school to secondary school but a lot of my friends from back then are still my friends now. I played the French horn at secondary school and was really into music and that lead to me getting into the Brit School.

Who are your influences? R’n’B, Soul and I really like soulful vocals. I was influenced by what comes through pirate radio stations like Garage, Dubstep and Drum’n’Bass and Grime.

What advice would you give to a teenager who wants to make it in music? Work hard, take every

opportunity that you get and do what you want to do. I worked with people that I knew and made use of every opportunity I got.
