LOUD!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

Run For Your Life! It’s Matt Cardle!

Loud! spoke to X Factor winner Matt Cardle. What’s coming up?

I’ve got my band together and we are doing a really exciting tour. We are going to be playing in far off places in the UK like the Orkney and Shetland islands.

The new single is out soon. Gary Barlow wrote the track for me and it’s just perfect. I can’t wait to get it out there. It’s the only track on the whole new album which I haven’t co- written.

What’s it been like waiting a whole year to release material? Really good! I didn’t want to bring out a record until it was totally ready and felt right. So now is the right time.

What do you think of the new X Factor panel?

I think they’re great. Gary’s especially good on it.

Who were your main inspirations musically?

Michael Jackson, Elton John and more rock acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I also really loved The Prodigy as a teenager.

Was it a hard decision to make to enter a talent show when you are inspired by acts like Nirvana? Yes definitely. I was in a band and I had to make a decision. A friend of mine sent in a video of my singing to X Factor. At first I didn’t want to do it, but I did for her and had to step out of my comfort zone and follow it through. I’m so glad I did.

Never give up, if you deserve to make it you will get there in the end

What advice would you give to a teenager who wants to make it in the music industry?

Never give up, if you deserve to make it you will get there in the end. It doesn’t come quickly. Listen to others and their advice.

Matt’s new single Run For Your Life is released digitally on the 9th of October and is out in the shops on the 10th.
