Formica awarded Chain of Custody

certification All of FormicaGroup’s European manufacturing sites and distribution centres have achieved the internationally recognised Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody (COC) certification, fromleading accreditation body, BMTRADA. This ensures thatmaterials used in the production of FormicaHigh Pressure Laminate (HPL) and wood-based bonded items are fromsustainably managed sources. FSC Chain of Custody tracks FSC-certifiedmaterial through the production process including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution.Demand for chain of custody certification has grown dramatically in recent years to the extent that, formany companies, the ability to prove that a timber product has been derived froma well- managed source is nowa key factor in the specification of timber-based products. FSC Chain of Custody certification is recognised by LEED(Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalDesign) Rating Systemfor environmentally focused design. Certification may contributeMR Credit 7: CertifiedWood in commercial projectswithin the LEED assessmentmethod, and contribute towards pointswithin thematerials section of the BREEAMassessmentmethod.
