Jack’s a lad with the Olympics in his sights

JACK Green may well have been disappointed with his performance in the AthleticsWorld Championships in Daego, South Korea, but the people of Snodland think differently. Mel Rayfield, chairman of Snodland Sports Association, said: “It is

an incredible achievement. He is only 19 years old and finished fifth in the semi finals of the 400 metres hurdles in the world champi- onships. It is fantastic. We are all very proud of him.” Jack, who won the gold medal in the European Under 23 hurdles

earlier in the season, said he thought he would have done better. “I achieved what was expected of me and, looking back I should

feel happy, butIamnot.”Heexplained:“Youonlypeakonceinasea- son and I peaked too soon. It was kind of expected that I would not do particularly well but I still expected to pull it out of the bag.” He was in the same apartment block in Daego as the world’s fastest runner, Usain Bolt – “quite a nice guy”. Only last year Jack was watching on television 90% of the people
