explained the Political Action Advisory Election Committee (PAAEC) process, and nominations were given. The paper ballots were counted by the PEF accounting staff and observed by the trustees. Margaret Jackson won the election and was appointed to the PAAEC. Fox said the Democrat’s win in
Congressional District 26 was huge and received national attention because it was a traditionally solid Republican district. He said the campaign was a success thanks to the efforts of PEF members and retirees. Fox said Nurses Legislative Day was
a success and many of the legislators were receptive to PEF’s issues. PEF’s legislative staff was following-up with political action liaison visits. Fox recommended the issue of Tier 6 be brought up on the visits. After a discussion about special
statewide elections, the Executive Board addressed convention issues. They voted to hold the 2015 PEF
convention in Syracuse, as that city offered the lowest bid and best proposal. For the 2011 convention, the board
approved the previous practice of reimbursement at half the federal mileage rate. The board then received training
from PEF Co-Director of Civil Service Enforcement Tom Cetrino on workforce reduction.
