Focus on Vauxhall: The Corsa
“With a recent facelift, the Corsa now has the looks to match its driving experience.
The Vauxhall Corsa is a firm fixture in the UK’s best ADI vehicle list, with good reason. The spacious supermini offers practicality and comfort with styling to match. In 2010 the Corsa had a mechanical refresh followed by a brand- new face lift in 2011. It not only drives well, but its curb appeal to young drivers is apparent. The petrol through the diesels engines return fantastic economy - particularly the ecoFLEX model with its 76.3mpg capability.
Drive and Comfort
The Vauxhall Corsa’s suspension is supple and copes well with uneven road surfaces and traffic calming solutions, or to you and me, speed bumps. The steering is light and responsive, whilst the low engine noise makes for a less frantic drive, especially around town. The entry-level 1.0-litre petrol engine feels slightly underpowered so the 1.2-litre petrol is really the best place to start for a decent mix of economy and performance. The 1.3

CDTi diesel is perhaps the best all-rounder, with its economy keeping running costs down. As a tuition vehicle the Corsa has the winning combination of style, practicality and fantastic fuel economy. In terms of handling the Corsa provides your pupils will benefit of decisive and responsive steering and an abundance of grip. Its visibility is great for manoeuvring and its airy interior feel making for a relaxing teaching environment.
The Corsa was ahead of the game when it came to comfortable superminis and this continues throughout this latest face lift. Sportier models do though lose the comfort of the regular versions, with the VXR in particular being rather stiff and bouncy on less than perfect road surfaces – but that’s the price you pay for its thrilling performance.
Inside and Out
The Corsa’s boot is spacious and has a 285 Litre capacity, this however does not encroach on the cabin space which seats 4 with ease. The cabin also comes with useful storage space ideal for all your paperwork. In terms of styling the Corsa exterior

has been enhanced with exiting and vibrant colours and interiors to match. As an option you can have matching coloured door and dashboard trims. With sumptuously comfortable seats the Corsa really is an ideal “all day” vehicle.
Running costs
Low insurance rates, excellent fuel economy and tax-friendly emissions make the Corsa light on your wallet at the fuel pumps and for Road Tax. A 1.3-litre CDTi ecoFLEX model is the cheapest to run, with low CO2 emissions of 95g/km and combined economy of 76.3mpg. Long 20,000- mile service intervals and plenty of competition for servicing means it should be cheap and easy to keep your instruction vehicle in top condition.
