jumping round. It was a moment I will never forget.” So far Tate—knock on wood—has been an incredibly

sound event horse. “This year we decided to put him on Adequan and Legend two weeks before Kentucky, just as a precaution to any potential stiffness issues,” says Sinead. “He is in regular shoes and has not had one joint injection. He is a very light horse and very body-aware; if there is mud in his field, he will politely walk around it, but galloping on cross-country he won’t even change his gallop—he almost just skims across the top of it. It’s a cool feeling.” Following his outstanding

performance at Kentucky, Tate is getting a month off, and then will come back into work to prepare for one of the world’s toughest three-day events: the Burghley CCI**** in England in September. “Tate came off Rolex super sound and fit, so this seems like the next logical step,” says Sinead. “I think Rolex

was a big test and a great accomplishment, but Burghley is the next level. Due to the travel, terrain, competition and sheer size of the jumps, Burghley will be something that will be a serious test in both of our careers. Then Tate can have a proper three months out in the field doing nothing, lazily preparing for 2012!”
