tooling applications A package of free iPhone applications now provides users with remote access to Walter GB’s tool data and cutting parameters as well as online ordering, via mobile phones. Downloadable from
the iTunes Store, the Walter Tool Scout and Tools & More smart phone apps allow users to log onto the Walter tool management database, access 2D and 3D tool models and use
the apps to work out detailed cutting data calculations.

5-axis for easy access
The new DMU 80 eVo vertical machining centre from DMG has an overhead gantry supporting the spindle head, resulting in exceptional accessibility to the working area, including from the side, even when an automated workpiece handling system is used. The design also provides a large 800mm x 650mm x 550mm working volume in a compact footprint. The -5/+110º swivelling rotary table has an 800mm x 700mm
work surface that allows undercuts of up to 20º. Rapid traverse speed is 60rpm for the B- and C-axes with a load of 600kg. The machine is said to be ideal for five-sided machining and simultaneous 5-axis profiling of heavy, complex components.

The Hypertac REP connector series, a multi-pole, sealed, rectangular, plastic connector providing quick and easy connection is now available from Aerco. The high performance
connector uses Hypertac Hyperboloid contact technology which is said to guarantee high reliability, even under high levels of shock and vibration. The REP connector conforms to UL94VO fire smoke standards and is made of polycarbonate with a silicone backshell. It is protected to IP66 and available in 2-, 6- and
12-way formats and allows up to 500 mating cycles.
