Producers Lab Toronto is an initiative created by European Film Promotion, in collaboration with the Ontario Media Development Corporation and the Toronto International Film Festival®. It aims to facilitate and increase international co-productions between European and Canadian producers and strengthen the networking between the participating professionals from both continents.

After graduating in Media and Communication from the University of Seville, Álvaro Alonso founded LETRA M in the 1990’s which was one of the most prolific production companies of shorts in Spain with more than ten titles in five years. In 2000, after graduating with a European Master of Audiovisual Management (MEGA) he founded Jaleo Films and produced his first feature film Chiqui Carabante‘s Carlos Against The World in 2001. Since then,


Álvaro has produced or co-produced eleven feature films, collaborating with production companies from many different countries and building up an enviable network of international contacts.

Ieva Norvilienė had already started producing films during her studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre when she began her collaboration with Ignas Miškinis. After working together on his first feature film Diringas, they decided to found their own production and distribution company Tremora in 2005. Since then, Ieva produced Kristina Buožytė‘s award-winning debut The Collectress and Miškinis‘ second feature Low Lights. She collaborated with the Hungarian PRODUCER ON THE MOVE Ivan Angelusz for Saulius Drunga‘s Anarchy In Žirmūnai which was awarded the Silver George prize for Best Film at Moscow‘s Perspectives Competition this June, among others.

Alison Reid started her film career as a stunt performer/stunt coordinator where she accumulated over 250 credits and worked with many high profile actors and directors. In 2005, she formed Free Spirit Films and produced her directorial debut The Baby Formula which won several awards at international film festivals. An alumnus of The Canadian Film Centre’s Producer’s Lab, Alison received the 2007 Crystal Award presented by the Director’s Guild of Canada for Best Emerging Director. She is currently in development with several feature projects as well as ”Smothered“, a half-hour comedy series based on The Baby Formula characters.
