The Conrad Hotel Macao: Hilton deals with Las Vegas Sands Corporation Cotai Strip, Macao (China) – Asia’s reply to Las Vegas
Together with its franchise partner Las Vegas Sands Corp., Hilton Worldwide completes the list of hotel industry leaders at China’s prime gambling city Macao. Due to open in early 2012 the Conrad Macao will be the next prestigious upscale hotel project at the Cotai Strip offering a total of 636 rooms.
The Cotai Strip is fast becoming Asia’s leading tourism destination. The main developer of the Cotai Strip, Las Vegas Sands, is planning to operate seven resort hotels and casinos within the coming years. This includes the $2.4-billion investment and since 2007 already opened Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, a complex with 3,000 all-suite rooms. All in all, the Las Vegas Sands’ development will boast some 20,000 hotel rooms, more than 3 million square feet of retail space at the Venetian Macao Shopping Centre and more than 2.5 million square feet of meeting and convention facilities. Six Las Vegas-style entertainment venues and a large arena for sports and showcase events will also be part of the Cotai Strip Macau. By the end of this major development project on the Cotai Strip the Las Vegas Sands Corp. will run numerous resorts run by prestigious brands such as Four Seasons, Sheraton, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Traders, Conrad, Fairmont, Raffles, Swiss Hotel, Intercontinental and Holiday Inn.
The Conrad Macao Cotai Strip joins the existing Chinese Conrad hotel portfolio in Hong Kong and Sanya Haitang Bay. Further seven hotels are currently under construction in the cities of Dalian, Beijing, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Xiamen. Looking beyond China a further 18 Conrad Hotels & Resorts are scheduled to open within the next four years, including properties in Koh Samui (Thailand), New York, Seoul and Dubai.
