MY PDP ITS POTENTIAL FOR YOUR DEGREE & CAREER PLANNING

We hope going through the PDP process will result in several benefits for you.

In the short-term and medium-term, it should focus your thoughts on what you wish to achieve and prioritise in each semester, as well as helping you decide on degree and module options. The material within the My School area of the resource has been compiled by colleges and schools to help you in this process, in tandem with advice from your Advisor of Studies.

My PDP will also encourage you to think about the future, to consider potential occupations and career options. You’ll gain a better appreciation of skills developed during your course as well as the value of extra-curricular activities, many of which are supported by DUSA and the Sports Union. You can use the material you create within the resource as evidence of your skills and achievements, as you build an effective CV. Suggestions to help in this process are provided in the CV Building area of the resource.

Whatever stage you’re at, staff at the Careers Service are always ready to help you with your career planning and have an extensive bank of resources for you to consult. The website www.dundee.ac.uk/careers/ gives details of workshops, courses and other useful activities, as well as services such as the Job Shop and Placement Base.

My PDP is a great resource for students. It provides a clear and easy method to help develop a CV which demonstrates your skills and how you gained them.

One of the key attributes of MY PDP is its accessibility, as the resource is operated from the Blackboard VLE and therefore is available to all students.

A key initiative of DUSA and the University over the next twelve months will be increasing the employability of our members. I believe that My PDP is one method of achieving this aim and I encourage all students to make use of it.
