HANDS ON... The Man
THIS MONTH: Danny Bryant
Danny Bryant is part of an exciting new wave of British blues guitarists currently spearheading a major revival in interest in the blues, especially at home. The 31 year old, who hails from Hertfordshire, recently announced a major new deal with German- based record label Jazzhaus and is also currently gearing-up to record a new live DVD: not bad for a young man who worked his way up from the club and pub circuit! The blues tradition has seen many top names learning their craft under the tutelage of an elder statesman and Danny’s talents caught the attention of Walter Trout, who actually mentored Danny and even offered him one-on-one guitar lessons whenever he was in the UK! With help from Walter Trout, who selflessly recommended Danny to fans and music industry types whenever he could, Danny’s career gained momentum to the point where he is now viewed on a similar level to his fellow Brit blues- blasters Matt Schofield, and Aynsley Lister. Another nice benefit of the recognition afforded to Danny is the opportunity to endorse his favourite gear and as a relative newcomer to Marshall Amplification, Danny has sorted himself out with the Marshall TSL100 as his go-to amp for live gigs at home and abroad. Look out for our full interview with Danny in the October issue of Playmusic.

Marshall TSL100
The TSL100 was issued in response to demand for a more versatile three-channel version of the hugely popular DSL series. With three fully independent channels the TSL100 can deliver surgically clean, warm crunch and ferociously aggressive tones that can be selected via a footswitch. Independent gain, volume and three-band EQ on each channel offer unrivalled versatility, plus there is also a mid boost switch on the clean channel and individual Tone Shift switches on the crunch and lead channels that scoop out the mids for a totally authentic contemporary ‘thrash’ metal tones. The TSL100 covers everything so well that it satisfies the needs of the

most demanding guitarist but Danny Bryant insists that prefers the more purist approach of the typical bluesman. “I just use the amp’s lead channel,” he explains, “I don’t use any overdrive pedals to boost my tone but I just have the Marshall TSL gain channel on and control it with my guitar volume control!” Danny’s simple yet effective approach to nailing his tone has found
