Organic Vegetable Gardening Course

udding gardeners can learn how to grow organic vegetables and


herbs during a hands-on, 14-week course offered by Holton Eco-Pre- serve, in Fort Myers. The first Saturday morning session will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., September 10, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers. Topics include best planting times, vegetables and herbs for our region, companion planting, crop rotation, composting and soil care, pest and disease management and container and raised-bed gardening. Participants will work in teams and be responsible for creating and maintaining their own garden plot throughout the season, and can also keep what they grow.

Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Begins in October

oga students that wish to become certified in the ancient practice and disci- pline of Kundalini yoga can sign up for a 200-hour, Yoga Alliance-recognized course beginning next month. Ava Brett and Ravi Singh, with more than 40 years of com-


bined international teaching experience, will lead seven, one- weekend-per-month sessions at Bija Yoga, in Naples, beginning with The Golden Chain, from October 14 to 16. Sessions will be 75 percent experiential and 25 percent


lecture, and each weekend will include at least 24 contact hours with the two teachers. Students may also accumulate hours in other locations where they teach. Additional require- ments include 20 additional yoga class hours (taught by a Yoga Alliance-certified teacher) that students attend and document, various lifestyle considerations, and a personal Sadhana (spiri- tual practice) that students will be asked to follow each day. Kundalini yoga is considered a powerful tool for excel- lence and self-growth, offering an accessible means for people to transform personal suffering into blessings and positive at- tributes. This training has been designed to create self-mastery and the capacity to heal, uplift and inspire.
