Family Garden Workshop Series

he Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, in Encinitas, is offering
a series of Family Gardening workshops in August, each scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. The first, Dig into Gardening: Healthy Soil and Composting, will take place August 3, followed by Healthy Habitats: Understanding Ecosystems, August 6, and Groceries from the Gar- den: Healthy Harvests, August 10. With a focus on teaching children about gardening, composting, food webs, nutrition, nutrient cycling and more, workshop participants will dig and explore the gardens while learning about healthy foods and habitats. Designed for children ages 7 to 11, activities include starting seeds, a garden scavenger hunt and managing a worm bin.
