Leavers’ play success
Pupils family and friends have enjoyed the annual leavers’ play at Looe Primary School which was a resounding success.
The play ‘Hot Dates’ took a lighthearted look back over the last 12 months at the school with pupils playing the parts of teachers, parents and children.
Teacher and director Mrs Currah was presented with a bouquet and gift by cast members Connor Minnette, Abigale McMurdie and Jessica Jones.(right).

This is not a ‘mini Newquay’
A special public meeting to try to sort out anti-social behaviour, mainly at weekends and late at night, has led to local councillors stressing that their town is not a ‘mini Newquay’.
However, people from a variety of agencies and from the local community, met in Looe this week to work out a plan to combat the complaints about the noise levels and bad behaviour which lead to scuffles and damage to property.
The main cause was identified as excessive drinking but those at the meeting in the town council chamber emphasised the fault did not lie with the pub landlords.
The point raised was that it has become popular for revellers to buy cheap alcohol from supermarkets and to get drunk before even hitting the town for a night out.
Armand Toms, a Looe county councillor and cabinet member for Social Care and Support, said Looe was very keen not to be likened to Newquay.
‘We have nothing like the scale of their problems’ he said, ‘and we want to emphasise that Looe is not unsafe or anti-social, and is still a nice place to live and visit.
‘The outcome of the meeting was very positive.’
