Full steam ahead for a summer of fun!
Discover the excitement and nostalgia of steam travel with a journey back in time on the Cornwall’s only full size railway with the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone age, as the era of a Cornish branch line in the 1950s reveals itself during the course of your journey.
Trains operate from Bodmin General, the line’s main station where free car parking is available, to both Bodmin Parkway station and Boscarne Junction.
There is a buffet at both Bodmin General and Bodmin Parkway stations, and most services have a buffet and bar on board the train. There is also a giftshop at Bodmin General.
There are lots of special events held throughout the year. The next will see Fireman Sam visiting the railway for the first time!
On August 5-7 come along to Bodmin General Station, enjoy a steam train ride, and meet the children’s favourite Fireman Sam.
On August 28-29 Postman Pat and Jess the Cat will be visiting the railway, so why not come along and say ‘hello’ and enjoy a steam train ride too! Don’t forget your camera!
The railway’s annual Steam Gala & Real Ale Festival will be held on September 2-4. The highlight being the return of the iconic steam
locomotive City of Truro, reputedly the first steam locomotive ever to have attained a speed of 100mph
The railway also operates a number of steam-hauled special trains through the season – including ‘Murder Mystery Evening Specials,’ ‘Steam Beer & Jazz’ trains, a luxury dining train and, during December, the popular ‘Santa by Steam’ specials.
