Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada-backed machine, 7.640 secs. back. Samuel Proulx was fourth for Sherbrooke Harley-Davidson and Chris Harmon placed fifth on the Vision Harley-Davidson entry. ICAR also saw the debut of the K&N Per-
formance Filters Amateur Superbike class. Alex Coelho of Longueuil, QC picked up the win on his Kawasaki ZX-6R, working his way up from ninth on the starting grid in the 14- lap race to take his first national victory. Suzuki rider Alain Lefebvre was 5.727
secs. back at the finish after leading the most laps. He only just held off the Honda CBR600RR of Jody Greening and Jean Francois Aubin on another Suzuki. The Inside Motorcycles Amateur
Sport Bike class was won by Proulx, who led all the way on his Suzuki GSX- R600. The weather-shortened 10-lap race was held in tricky conditions and despite holding a lead off over 10 sec- onds at half distance Proulx found himself being reeled in over the clos- ing laps by Aubin, who was lapping two seconds a lap quicker than Proulx at one point. The final winning margin was 4.191 secs. Edward Rudkowski was a distant
third on another Gixxer and Philippe Bonin was disqualified for having un- approved electronics on his motorcy- cle. Stavros Grekos and Coelho completed the top five. Hard luck man of the Amateur
ranks was Kristopher Garvie, who had qualified on pole for both Sport Bike and Superbike. A crash took him out
42
of the Sport Bike race and he injured his arm, rendering him a non-starter for the Su- perbike event later in the day. The first two races in the Honda
CBR125R Challenge provided vastly differ- ent results. In the opener on Saturday after- noon Eric Green scored an impressive victory from Austin Shaw-O’Leary and Cedric Martineau. The following day in damp conditions Stacey Nesbitt made his- tory with her first class victory ahead of Seth Van Dongen and David MacKay. Nesbitt left ICAR with a 12-point lead over Shaw- O’Leary with Van Dongen third.
