two, but MS. ROSE, with a speed of 32.9 mph, crossed first. In Class G, 436 to 550 hp, 28 to 35 feet, for the last several years this class has been dominated by Todd Ritchie’s SEACOCK [Calvin Beal 34, 436-hp, Sisu] and he was again victorious. Travis Otis’ FIRST TEAM [Northern Bay 36, 410-hp Sisu 645] has been the dominate boat in Class H, 436 to 550 hp, 36 feet and over, and continued his winning ways. Class I, 551 to 700 hp, 28 to 35 feet, had a new entrant, LISA MARIE. She was going up against David Taylor’s MISTY [Crowley Beal 33, 650 hp Scania], Chip Johnson’s THREE STARS [Mitchell Cove 35, 650-hp Mack] and Scott Woods’ WILD ONE [Crowley/Beal 33, 892-GM]. It was a real close battle right from the start between LISA MARIE and MISTY, but MISTY fell short by just a boat length. David Myrick of Gouldsboro brought his JANICE ELAINE [Northern Bay 38, 610-hp Cummins] to com- pete in Class J, 551 to 700 hp, 36 feet and over. He went on for the win followed by David Haskell’s MOLLY RYAN [Holland 38, 600-hp Volvo] and Ryan Haskell’s DECADENCE [Duffy 38, 580-hp Cummins], both from North Haven. There were no entrants in Class K, 701 to 900 hp, 28 feet to 40 feet, and Class L, 901 hp and over, 28 feet to 40 feet. In Class M, 40 feet and over, up to 750 hp, there was a new boat signed up, Shane Hatch of Owl’s Head and his JILL CAYDEN [Calvin Beal 44, 700-hp Iveco]. She was going to compete against Dixon Smith’s SIZE MATTERS [Libby 41, 750-hp Iveco] Patrick Faulkingham’s GRAMP’S BIRD [Osmond 40, 700-hp Iveco] and Rusty Courts CASEY ANNE. SIZE

MATTERS took the win followed by GRAMP’S BIRD and JILL CAYDEN. Tom Clemon’s sold MOTIVATION [Duffy 37, 900-hp Mack] to a fishermen on Swan’s Is- land. She had been strong competition for Andy Johnson’s WHISTLIN’ DIXIE [Hol- land 40, 1,000-hp Caterpillar], so will Clemon’s 4 GIRLS [Wesmac 46, 1,000-hp Caterpillar] be up to the challenge? Also lining up for the start was Chris Page’s ABIGAIL & CARTER [John’s Bay Boat Co., 1,000-hp Caterpillar] and Keith Jordan’s BAILEY & BELLA [Calvin Beal 44, 1,000 hp Caterpillar]. It was close, but WHISTLIN DIXIE crossed first with 4 GIRLS second, and ABIGAIL & CARTER third.

The Wooden Boat Race was a real battle between ABIGAIL & CARTER and EMILY GRACE, and it was EMILY GRACE winning. The Gasoline Free-for-all had just two boats CRY BABY and FROSTY PUNKIN come to the line and it was CRY BABY first. In the Diesel Free-for-All it was WHISTLIN’ DIXIE first, JANICE ELAINE second and 4 GIRLS third.

The final race of the day, Fastest Lobster Boat, saw the same finish: WHISTLIN’ DIXIE, JANICE ELAINE and 4 GIRLS. It was now on to Rockland where the weather forecast was great and the turnout should be too. The morning was filled with bright sunshine, but a strong northwest wind. Racers came from far and wide and when the sign up was over there were 69 boats entered for the day’s event. The first race of the day was a combina- tion of Work Boat Class A and B, because
