A 1941 Sim Davis powerboat was in to have new coamings put in.


An old Lyman was in for some putty and paint.


BETH DESIRE from Southwest Harbor developed a leak and had some engine is- sues. They are realigned the shaft, which should solve the problem.


Out in the yard is the Beal & Bunker DOUBLE B., which was built by Rich in 1982. She is 38 feet long and was in just for her annual maintenance.


They have built a 16 x 20 float for a customer from over in Somes Sound. A 26 foot Bobby Rich boat was in for a stern post. She was formerly used for plea- sure and is now going to be a lobster boat. Once the stern post is repaired they then need to do her annual maintenance.


Another Bobby Rich boat, built in 1976, was in for some work. She was owned by Van Olsen from Vinalhaven and named NANCY O. She will now be known as RICH AMBI- TION. She had lots of work done including some deck framing, top strake, coamings, deck guards, shelter and a new fuel tank.


West Bay Boats in Steuben has finished several projects this winter.


A Dyer 29 was in to have her propeller and shaft changed. They also added a dripless seal.


A 31 West Bay came back and they did a retrofit on her. They installed an Evolution System while Kennedy did the engine work. She also got new trim on the house, changed the center hatch on the trunk house and then did some gel coating.


The 37 foot PROMISE, which they fin- ished two years ago, was back to have them repair the swim platform. They also finished up some small projects her owners wanted done. She has left and returned to her homeport, Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.


Things are winding down at Beal’s Boat


Shop in Milbridge as they get ready for lob- ster fishing season.


In the shop was a South Shore 38 being finished off as a lobster boat. She has a V- berth and storage locker below. She will be powered with a 660 hp Caterpillar. One major change in this one was that they narrowed the house forward and raise the shelter. She shall


Sargent Custom Boats in Milbridge is finishing off a Mitchell Cove 35 for the Ameri- can Yacht Club at Rye, New York. Her accom- modations include a berth, head and vanity, and a table with flag storage. She is a three- quarter walkaround which has two steps on each side amidships for greater access. With her bow rail one would have to try to fall overboard. All the aluminum railings and ladder were done by Nautilus Marine in Tren- ton and the rest of the metal work was done by Esposito of Surry. This boat is powered with a 315 hp Yanmar diesel. She will be done mid-June.


This winter they did a retrofit on a 30 foot South Shore. They raised her roof, added a new bulkhead and running gear. They then re-gel coated the bottom and put in new hydraulics.


A 38 Calvin built in 2003 has been sold and is heading to Buck’s Harbor. They re- moved her stern, painted the hull with Imron and added a sliding door in her winter back. They did a refit on a 36 foot H&H from Gouldsboro. They re-gel coated the hull un- der the wash boards, put on a new top, replaced handrail and coppered the bottom. A 40 RP from Milbridge was in and had her decks re-gel coated, replaced her wash- boards, put Philly clad on the deck, re-did the engine box, and repaired a soft spot in the deck.


A 42 foot H&H was into be re-powered. They also did glasswork which included cut- ting apart the house to get the engine out. They then painted her bottom, redid her ex- haust system and bilge alarms, added a new heater and replaced all the lines.


Troy Alley is building a 31’ x 12’ out- board boat up in Columbia Falls. She was built using Luan and covered with fiberglass. Back in early June they were working on the plat- form, fairing the bulkhead and house and putting in a V-berth. She is going to be pow- ered with twin 250 hp Yamaha’s outboards. She was scheduled to go to Craig Church for the engine installation on 27 June. When this is complete she will do some of the lobster boats races on the coast.

A 33 Crowley Beal was finished out for a local fisherman. She will be powered with a 560 hp Iveco and should move right along.
