THE BATTERY SHOW TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE

Session Chair Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, PhD, Chief Executive Offi cer & Co-Founder, Sakti3

Ann Marie is an entrepreneur, researcher and educator in energy science and technology. Her longstanding research and partnerships in battery technologies led her and her co-founders to form Sakti3, a high-tech, advanced battery manufacturing company in 2008. Dr Sastry is on leave as the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Speakers

M. “Scott” Faris, Chief Executive Offi cer, Planar Energy Scott has almost two decades of operating, venture fi nancing, and commercialization experience, involving more than 20 startup and emerging-growth technology companies. As Founder and Chief Executive Offi cer of Planar Energy, a spinout of the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, he is responsible for establishing and executing the company vision and direction across all functional areas.

Michael Oster, Chief Executive Offi cer, Eos Energy Storage (formerly Grid Storage Technologies)

Michael co-founded Eos Energy Storage in 2007 to develop and commercialize a utility scale zinc-air battery system. He was one of the original partners to launch the global energy technology fi rm Oilspace/Aspect Enterprise, where he populated the board and investor group with OPEC oil ministers, US cabinet members and other energy industry leaders.

John Kopera, Vice President of Commercial Operations, Sion Power

John is Vice President of Commercial Operations, responsible for the sales, marketing, and battery product development activities. He has over 15 years of experience in developing systems and technology for high- performance batteries. John previously served as Director - Stationary Solutions for Cobasys, developing nickel-metal hydride battery systems for stationary power applications.

11:00AM COFFEE SERVED IN EXHIBITION HALL SPONSORED BY

11:45AM INNOVATIVE HYBRID BATTERY PASSIVE THERMAL MANAGEMENT Active thermal management for hybrid batteries must be sized to meet peak loads, creating an oversized system (regarding cost, weight, volume) for the majority of driving situations. In this program, a 500Wh battery was built employing passive thermal storage with active components to allow for more effi cient design. Keynote Speaker: Said Al-Hallaj, Chief Executive Offi cer, AllCell Technologies

Said Al-Hallaj is Chairman/Chief Executive Offi cer and co-founder of AllCell Technologies LLC, and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He has published over 30 technical peer-reviewed journals and over 25 conference papers, and has co- authored four issued patents.

12:15PM IMPROVING LI-ION BATTERY PERFORMANCE WITH ADVANCED ANODE MATERIALS

ConocoPhillips CPreme anode materials are being widely used in high-performance Li-ion batteries due to their superior rate capability, long cycle life, and stable thermal characteristics. The latest advancements in CPreme materials allow further improvements in cell performance by customizing the anode material for specifi c cell chemistry and application.

Keynote Speaker: Bharat Chahar, Product Manager, Cpreme Graphite

Dr Bharat Chahar is a co-founder of ConocoPhillips’ CPreme anode business, and leads its global marketing and product development efforts. He joined ConocoPhillips in 1981 after obtaining a PhD from Rice University. During his career at ConocoPhillips he has held many leadership roles within R&D and emerging businesses.
