Robert is responsible for the operations of the battery and materials testing team, and the battery pack systems design and build area. He is also Chairman of the SAE Battery Standards Committee, which is establishing peer group battery standards for the emerging electric and hybrid electric vehicle markets while sustaining other standards for traditional applications.


Speakers Dr. Joachim Fetzer, Executive Vice President, SB Limotive


Dr. Fetzer studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, where he became a Research Assistant at the Institute for Theory of Electrical Engineering. After a successful career at Robert Bosch GmbH, he joined the Korean arm of SB Limotive as Executive Vice President of Engineering Quality Management and Corporate Planning.


Priya Tabaddor, Business Development Director, Underwriters Laboratories (UL)


Priya is Business Development Director at Underwriters Laboratories (UL), with commercial responsibility for industrial, automotive, and automation systems solutions business globally. In her role as business leader she is responsible for driving new opportunities by coordinating standards development, research activities, and stakeholder partnerships to be aligned with customer and industry needs.


Galen Ressler, Senior Staff Engineer, Global Battery Systems Engineering, General Motors Company


Galen Ressler currently leads the GM battery safety team and was responsible for the safety analysis and validation of the Chevrolet Volt battery. He led the effort to create SAE J2929, “Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion Battery System Safety Standard”. Galen holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

11:45AM HOW NEXT-GENERATION BATTERIES WILL DRIVE FUTURE VEHICLE DESIGN As battery cell technology improves over the coming years, auto manufacturers will face important design decisions on how to best apply the latest advancements. Some may elect to reduce battery pack cost or size; others may seek to extend the electric range or other performance parameters. This presentation will analyze these trade-offs and contribute a solutions perspective to available market forecasts.


Keynote Speaker: Jeff Kessen, Director, Automotive Marketing, A123 Systems


Jeff is Director of Automotive Marketing at A123 Systems, where he focuses on market strategy for the company’s Automotive Solutions Group. Prior to joining A123 in 2009 he spent 11 years at Bosch, where he held leadership positions in program management, sales and strategic marketing for automotive control software.

Joshua is one of the leading technology experts in the transit hybrid electric industry and is vice chair on the American Public Transit Association’s Clean Transportation Committee. Mr. Goldman joined Proterra in March 2008, as Director of Business Development where he drives the company’s efforts in establishing state and nationwide partnerships between public, private and governmental agencies to develop, test and commercialize zero-emissions technology for heavy duty transportation.
