Looking back over SMEI’s fiscal year ending in June 2011, it is very apparent that it has been a year of significant milestones for SMEI. Under the two consecutive years of Chairmanship by Jeffery Jackson, CME CSE, we have seen a new road map brought to life. This could not have been possible without the dedication of SMEI’s board members, committee members and our affiliate and chapter leaders. When we met in Philadelphia for SMEI’s 75th Anniversary Conference last year, a new level of energy was reverberating around the halls of the Marriott hotel. That energy was brought to the event by individuals who breathed Passion for the profession and a keen interest in the values and founding principles of SMEI.
This new energy translated into a Future of SMEI Task Force, a new Program Task Force and a Marketing Task Force, while there was work well under way by the Certified Marketing & Sales Professionals Marketing Task Force for SMEI’s professional certification programs. As the SMEI board continues to respond and lead the organization by activating the task force proposals, a vision for the future
will begin to reveal an exciting path for SMEI and our members. I hope you’ll stay tuned because the best is yet to come!
SMEI’s launch in Vietnam in April during the 2011 SMEI Asia Tour is another significant milestone. We will be conducting a Train the Trainer program for professional certification in June 2011 and a business plan and marketing efforts are already being brought to life by our new members. SMEI’s second consecutive 4-year agreement for cooperation and development of SMEI’s certification programs in China was signed on April 8, 2011. The signing ceremony and press conference was attended by over 100 of China’s top media outlets and future training partners. This was taking place while over 300 new certification exams from China were being processed by SMEI.
As we move into our new fiscal year, we will be marking the 25th year since the founding of SMEI’s professional certification programs. A special celebration is scheduled to take place during the annual SMEI conference. Mark your calendar for October 11-13, 2011 and join us for this and an outstanding lineup of thought leader sessions and workshops at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Juan Puerto Rico.
