ENVIRONMENT

Whether it’s the local beach, the indigenous wildlife, a celebrated natural wonder or the character of a place that attracts us to our chosen destination – the quality of the environment is essential to the holiday product.

The smart tourism businesses are already finding ways to support conservation efforts, cut their carbon footprint and help to reduce the profound impacts that climate change is likely to have on destinations.

We’re helping travel companies make steps towards a greener future by creating practical training tools and guidelines, from wildlife watching guides to sustainable accommodation toolkits. This year, we’ve also dramatically expanded our programme to help hotels limit their water and energy use and reduce waste, initiating projects in five new destinations.
