Shinmura-san’s happy cows
have thought we would have so many of the same problems and frustrations as well as aspirations and hopes for how it could all work better. Poor Kirstie was doing a valiant job of keeping up with the conversation and finding Japanese words for ‘artificial inse- mination’, ‘deer tick’ and ‘carbon sequestration’. Not only do we both aim to
farm in harmony with nature but we are both keen to educate the public and invite visitors to our farms. Shinmura Farm has a tea room, farm walk and open milking parlour. Ironically I do cream teas for many Japanese groups who adore traditional English food, and we lead a farm walk every Wed- nesday at 10.30 to educate the public about sustainable farming.
