Barming school’s
healthy award BARMING Primary School achieved a Quality in Ex- tended Service award as part of the KCC-run Healthy Schools Programme. The award, presented by paralympic champion Danny Crates, was given to the school for providing ac- tivities outside of school hours. The programme is run by
KCC in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University to encourage children to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Jailed and evicted
for drug dealing A RINGLESTONE tenant was jailed after police found 25 bags of crack cocaine at his home. Dean Dickson (20) was
also evicted from his Stan- hope Close property due to anti-social behaviour, linked to drugs. Residents had re- ported regular disturbances and damage to the flat. Dickson was jailed for 32 months for possession of drugs and intent to deal, after appearing atMaidstone Crown Court. The flat, owned by Golding Homes, has now had its locks changed.
New Medway footbridge comes to a halt But current financial constraints have reduced
THE creation of a new footbridge over the River Medway has finally been ruled out – nine years after it was earmarked as a condition of a major housing development. As part of the development of 307 flats at Scot-
ney Gardens,Maidstone, FairviewHomes was re- quired to make a £500,000 section 106 payment towards a new footbridge in the centre of town.

Kirsten (24), is lead vocalist with the ACM Gospel Choir, who helped to entertain the Manchester City and Stoke fans at the big match. In the evening, she sang with the choir at
the Royal Tattoo atWindsor, which was attended by the Queen. Proud mum Phillipa said: “It was a very busy and exciting day
for her.” Kirsten, who trained at the Academy of Contemporary Music at Guildford, is in big demand for session work and has provided backing for may top artists including Gary Barlow, Alison Moyet and Lol Crème of 10cc.
