Alex Mettler, local Tavistock historian, is writing a history of the Bedford Hotel and would like to trace any surviving portraits/ illustrations/photographs of the following:
John Truscott tenant 1822 - 1834; John Taunton tenant 1835 - (1841); Edmund Lakeman Elliott tenant (1843) - 1850; William Rowe Northway tenant 1850 - 1887; John Squire tenant 1888 - 1904; Ellen Stanbury tenant 1904 - 1910; William Isaac Lake tenant 1910 - 1955 John/Mary Cole managers Bedford Tap 1851-1871;
Simon/Elizabeth Webber managers Bedford Tap 1881?-1887; Edith/John Burgoyne managers Bedford Tap 1887-1901?; Samuel/Sarah Scown managers Bedford Tap 1901?-1904; Frederick William Tucker manager Bedford Tap 1911-1914; William/Sarah Slatter managers Bedford Tap 1914-1947; Emeline Roberts (Jane) manager Bedford Tap 1952-?? Mr and Mrs Dodridge - managers THF 1955 to 1957;
Mr and Mrs Flanagan - managers THF 1957 to 1961;
Mr and Mrs Roome - manager THF 1961-1965; Mr and Mrs Michael Dolamore managers THF 1965-1966
worked at the Bedford Hotel for many years and he would like to re-make contact if possible.

In addition he is looking for an original copy of the Sales Catalogue for the auction of the Bedford Hotel on 15th September 1955 and the
Sales Catalogue for the effects which were auctioned on 25th October 1955 and any photographs of the Bedford Hotel Garage. Any personal reminiscences of the Bedford Hotel would also be of interest.
