12 news Southampton Airport makes flying a breeze

Southampton Airport is an easy way to start your travels, with over 900 weekly flights available to 48 European destinations

Around two million passengers a year take advantage of the flights on offer, experience the easy, fast and friendly service, and avoid the stress of London at the same time.

The airport is ideally placed, with easy access from the M3 and M27 motorways, as well as Southampton Airport Parkway station just a 60 second walk from the terminal. The train station sees 180 trains stop each day, and offers speedy train links across the south.

The service at Southampton Airport is often much quicker too, with short check-in times of less than one hour before the flight, and minimal queues at security. In fact, last year 97% of passengers waited no more than five minutes at security. The whole package put together means flying from Southampton Airport is often a much shorter overall journey time. Flights are also conveniently timed for business trips, meaning you can travel out and return the same day, and still have time to relax and unwind after work. 40% of passengers use Southampton Airport for this very reason.

48 destinations available ...

The choice of destinations is surprisingly high with 48 routes available. Southampton Airport is the UK’s number one gateway to France with 14 destinations including: Avignon, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Brest, Chambery, La Rochelle, Limoges, Nice, Paris (Orly), Perpignan and Rennes. Flybe is also starting three new services to Beziers, Clermont-Ferrand and Pau from May 27.

Thomas Cook is starting weekly holiday flights to Majorca on Saturdays and Menorca on Sundays this summer. Both have excellent morning departure times from Southampton meaning your holidays can start that bit sooner. In addition, Thomson and First Choice have increased availability to Majorca on their Thursday flights due to popular demand.

Eastern Airways has increased flights to Aberdeen from three to four per day. The Sunday flights are also ideally timed to

start the working week. Eastern Airways passengers receive an all inclusive service with 20-minute express check-in, baggage, priority security access, business lounge (in Aberdeen), seating and inflight refreshments.

Flights can be booked at wwwsouthamptonairport.com. If there’s somewhere you’d like to fly to which is not currently available, the airport would like to hear from you at www.southamptonairport. com/flyto.

Improving your airport ...

The airport has been investing in facilities to improve the passenger experience further. In 2010, over £7 million was invested in restaurants, toilets, roof glazing and the installation of a rail footbridge with lift access. In 2011, a new duty-free store will also be unveiled with more product ranges available.
