What’s On In April!
27th May 2011 Doors 7.30pm, Music starts at 8.00pm, DJ’ TIL 1AM Following the success of the first of the QGL Sessions in February, the next event in the series will feature Plymouth based singer/songwriter Christian Sleep, Emma Ronchetti, a young singer from Cornwall and headlining is the charismatic Louis Elliot with his band, The Embers.
With the crackle of fireworks and the thrill of the fairground, Louis Elliot released his first collection of new material in half a decade in the form of the outstanding album Kittow’s Moor in October last year. The album includes the fiddle-propelled surge of their debut single ‘Runaway Night’, a stomping catalyst which defies anyone to remain static in its presence. It is an indication of Louis’ enduring talent as a songsmith and performer that musically, this is something of a second incarnation for him. Having ridden the Britpop tide during the 90s, as the front-man of Kinky Machine and Rialto (notching up three top 40 singles along the way), Elliot tired of the trappings of London life. His wanderlust directed his footsteps back across the Tamar to Cornwall, land of timeless rolling landscapes and wild beaches, and home to his childhood stomping grounds. Louis’ geographical transition manifested itself musically in his assured solo debut of 2004, Long Way Round. Here, the sea change in his direction was rewarded with an array of critical assent, including the
recognition of The Sunday Times’ Album of the Week.
Emma Ronchetti, Christian Sleep and Louis Elliot and the Embers will be joined by a mystery artist, yet to be announced, so don’t miss out on what promises to be a brilliant night of music in Tavistock.
