Caroline Keane is exhibiting her hand-made Artist’s Book at BookStop during the course of Tavistock Sings music festival from 26th March to 2nd May 2011.
THIS is a love story called ‘The Stonecarrier and The Shoemaker from Madras’ including poetry, photographs and water colours depicting a period of her life spent between West Devon, Sri Lanka and India, 2001 to 2004. Caroline initiated the Dawn Chorus annual event held at Merrivale, celebrating May Day with music, song and dance as part of The Tavistock Sings Music and Arts festival .
Caroline set up the West Devon Stonecarrying community project in 2006 on Dartmoor shortly after completing this book. It was intended to carry on the ancient indigenous African tradition of Stonecarrying along ancient Pilgrimage tracks across Dartmoor. Caroline combines music, art and dance in her workshops which she took into primary schools, community centres and village halls across West Devon.
Her paintings are being exhibited
at the Café at the Wharf, the Terrace Restaurant, South West Crafts and The Tavistock Art Gallery.
Hand made copies of her beautiful book, much admired by
HRH Prince Charles during his visit to Duchy Square Art Centre last year, can be purchased at BookStop, Market Street, Tavistock.
