THE FASHION ICON FEARNE COTTON
“When I was little, my Nan would let me and my cousin, Biba, dress up in nighties and kitten heels from her wardrobe. We’d play around for hours trying different outfits on. I actually think that’s when my passion for clothes started.”
Whether presenting her ever-increasingly popular broadcast on Radio 1, appearing in a new show on ITV2 or snapped in the fashion pages waltzing through the in spots of London, Fearne Cotton is certainly someone pretty special.
At just fifteen she became
the new presenter of the Disney Club, instantly exciting a quirky and artistic flare. It is in the last five years, however, that Cotton has really shone, becoming a co-presenter on Top Of The Pops and following in the impressive footsteps of the late John Peel to report live coverage of the legendary Live8 concert in 2005. It was in this same year that Fearne joined the Children In Need team, alongside Sir Terry

Wogan. Her success in the fashion world began a year later through her own designs for an exclusive Pudsey tee using a henna-style motif. It is from this point onwards that Cotton’s vibrant and quirky style caught people’s eyes; her fearless approach to trying new styles is certainly inspirational.
In 2007 Fearne made the move to Radio 1, firstly presenting the chart show with Reggie Yates and then moving to present her own show on weekdays. Alongside her busy broadcasting schedule, Cotton has helped to present award shows, including the Oscars in LA and Comic Relief in London and is famed as holding the only interview with Prince Harry and Prince William in the run up to their Concert for Diana.
Fearne’s style works because it is so
carefree. Whether an outfit for an award show or a summer festival, she never fails to turn heads (in a good way, I might add) and likes to create her own new trends. The ditzy summer dress teamed with pumps was a popular look with Fearne before many dedicated fashionable girls took heed. While she likes to adopt a grungy look through her make-up and band tees, Fearne also pulls off the pretty florals and vintage flare to create a truly covetable feminine look.
