Western Montana School of

Certified Professional Massage Therapist Coreen Kelly will teach a

five-day, Level I Certified Course in Equine Massage beginning March 20, 2011, in Corvallis, Montana. The first two days will focus on profession-specific, in-hand horsemanship for massage therapists. Students will learn how to safely handle a horse from the ground, especially from a massage therapist’s point of view. The next three days will focus on equine anatomy and physiology, traditional Chinese philosophy, sedative Swedish massage, stimulating sports massage, rhythmic muscle pulsing, hands-on healing; massage sequencing, business practices, and then finish with an exam.

Equine Massage Spring Class In 1995, Kelly’s failing eyesight began to rapidly diminish and she is now legally blind. However, she feels that her low vision has actually been the impetus for her work; that a non-sighted person “sees with their hands.” Kelly learned her craft at the Beijing

Massage Hospital, in China (for the blind), and is a Reiki Master Teacher. She is also a graduate of Equissage School of Equine Massage, in Virginia. She believes that combining 2,000-year- old Chinese massage techniques – that use acupoint meridians, and stimulate and warm acupoints – with Western muscle manipulation has created a whole-body release unlike any other technique used on equines. To find out more about the Western Montana School of Equine Massage, and the classes offered, or to register for the March class, visit www. equinetouchmontana.com or call Coreen Kelly at 406-961-5407.
