CONSTANTINE MAROULIS ROCKS!
he name Constantine means “constant and steadfast” in Latin. The same description could be used for Constantine Maroulis’ ascent in his successful, solid career. Maroulis was born in Brooklyn, New York to Greek-American parents, James Constantine and Constance P. Maroulis. Both his maternal and paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from Greece in the 1920s. Constantine was 5 when his family moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey where he
grew up. During those formative years he developed an interest in music, partially inspired by his older brother. After graduation, he attended The Boston Conservatory, where he performed in many productions and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater. It was American Idol however, that brought him to the attention of the American public and put him on the map around the world. He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his Broadway role in Rock of Ages. The production, which rolls into L.A.’s Pantages Theatre this month and then moves on to the Orange County Performing Arts Center, is a jukebox of classic rock hits from the 1980s. It featuring tunes from the famous/infamous glam metal bands of the decade with songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia, among other legendary rock bands.
