Media programs. I
What is Interactive Media? It is a process in which both the User and Electronic Equipment, or Digital Media, or even some forms of Printed Media, interact with each other. Taken together, Interactive Media has now become the largest form of entertainment in the world.
TimePlay has taken advantage of this development by expanding the basic concept of Interactive Media into a new Multi-Player Interactive Media format that includes many types of entertainment.
Using its patented Cinelynx platform, an audience through either a dedicated game device or a mobile telephone, can interact with each other on the same game, the same experience and the same excitement in the same or many locations. This can be better understood by describing both the Venues and the Games that are available.
Let’s begin with CineBingo – Bingo in a Movie Theater. CineBingo was described by Business 2.0 Magazine, in 2007, as one of the best business ideas of the year. TimePlay transformed the Odeon Huddersfield Theatre in England into a high-tech Bingo Hall complete with lights, music, visual media, and a live host.
Players used wireless hand-held units to daub (mark) their electronic cards. The cards were available in unlimited numbers and offered a variety of traditional and new patterns. The program was so successful that a similar program was offered in both Spain and Germany.
John Hussman, the founder, President and CEO of the company expects that the linking of Theatres to create tournaments, larger prizes and the availability of the game in 75-80-90 numbered formats will result in the deployment of hundreds of screens, world-wide, in the next few years.
In the excitement of CineBingo, TimePlay has not ignored its roots in traditional Bingo. It must be explained, to those not familiar with the game, that Bingo is one of the most popular games in the world both on Land and on the Internet. Despite this popularity, the game has seen hard times in many Land Jurisdictions for a number of reasons including:
f you haven’t yet heard of TimePlay – you soon will! This company, founded in 2003, has become in a few short years, a world leader in the development and implementation of Multi-Player Interactive
q Antiquated regulations q Lack of new ideas, marketing and promotions
q Aging players q Smoking restrictions q Older facilities q Competition from the growth of other forms of Gaming
TimePlay has created new and unique products and systems to reverse this trend by attracting new players, retaining current players and increasing operator profits. With over 50 years of Bingo experience in its Management Team, it has become a leader in the UK in developing new and exciting ways to transform Bingo into an even more satisfying social and gaming experience. Using technology developed for its other programs, TimePlay has begun to offer choices of hand-held screen size, dynamic hosts, team play, tournaments, game choice, live entertainment, sales & prizes, upsells, local/global scoreboards, player accounts and self-service for purchasing games/cards/tickets all in real time.
In reviewing their successes in the UK, Aaron Silverberg, TimePlay’s Vice President of Marketing, shared these observations on the National Bingo Game and the National Marketing Network....
“
...the fact that NRM controls the game is not indicative of a closed shop. The danger for the industry would be if one company were allowed to become the dominant supplier of electronic and mechanical bingo product lines as this could result in a dilution of new ideas and concepts, and a monopoly long term – that is the greater danger at the moment. We strongly support an open platform, open network industry, where the best hardware and software, and the latest creative ideas can flourish, unhindered by restrictive practises.”
One the keys to TimePlay’s growth has been their ability and willingness to adapt their games and system to a variety of sites. For example, although each of these areas – Casinos, Bingo Halls, Bars, Lounges, Show Rooms and Cruise Ships – is different, they provide a common denominator of people, recreation, gaming and entertainment for which the TimePlay scalable platform was created.
A platform which allows dozens of games and gaming formats to be played by hundreds of participants on their hand-held units; A platform which encourages strangers to meet each other; A platform which offers the luxury of playing individually, in teams or in tournaments against the house; A platform so flexible that it can also provide
