ParkingPlanners Completes Unique Sustainable Garage in San Antonio

ParkingPlanners of Austin, TX, recently celebrated,

with design architect Lake | Flato, the opening of the Brackenridge Park Parking Facility in San Antonio. The three-level, 325-space facility serves the park and the his- toric Witte Museum destinations. The parking facility includes a ticket booth for the park’s miniature train, which connects with the San Antonio zoo. This encourages tourists to visit the zoo and experience the park’s scenic forest during their ride. The parking facility blends into the surrounding forest

through the use of native plantmaterials on themetal screen façade. The top deck of the structure allows the collection of rainwater into three cisterns at the front of the facility. The collected rainwater is used for landscape irrigation. ParkingPlanners, as Architect of Record with Lake |

Flato, helped design the facility to keep many of the large historic oak trees in place, providing shade in this environ- mentally sensitive area.
