Mary Hilda Clinton Shepherd Barnardsville - Mary Hilda Clinton
Shepherd, age 77, of Barnardsville died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at her home. Mary Hilda was born April 11,
1933, in Barnardsville to the late Lamar and Ina Jarrett Clinton. She loved her home. Her hobbies includ- ed flower gardening, reading and watching sports. Mary Hilda was a member of Dillingham Presbyterian Church. After 37 years of service she retired from American Enka/BASF. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Lamar Galloway, and her sis- ter, Maxie Dillingham. Surviving are her brothers, Ron-
ald Clinton and wife Dollie of Cleve- land, Ohio, and Henry Clinton and wife Barbara of Barnardsville; seven nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews. Her funeral service was held at
11 am on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, in Dillingham Presbyterian Church with Pastor Richard Hicks officiating. Burial was in Dillingham Cemetery. The family received friends from
6 pm to 8: pm on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times the family was at
the home of Henry and Barbara Clinton, 10 Clinton Lane. Because of Mary Hilda’s love for

Sheppard, age 98, of Weaverville died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010. Mrs. Sheppard was born Jan. 8,
1912, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1940. She attended Dorland Bell School in Hot Springs. Mrs. Sheppard was a member of Clark’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Lunsford, 85, of 2483 Lower Gabri- el’s Creek Road, passed away Fri- day, Dec. 17, 2010 at Madison Manor Nursing Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Bessie Clark Rice. She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Cherie Davis and Christina Martin; three brothers, Charles, James and Carl Rice; sister Oma Crowder. Lois Elizabeth Ledford Watts Weaverville - Lois Elizabeth Led-
ford Watts, 86, of 31 Eller Ford Road, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. She was born in Madison County to the late O. L. “Dock” and Effie Metcalf Ledford. She was also pre- ceded in death by her husband, Rev. T. A. Watts; twin daughter, Shirley Watts; grandson, Rodney Watts; sis- ter, Louise Maney; brothers, Claude, Spurgeon, Emerson and Kelly Led- ford. Lois was a lifelong member of Terry’s Fork Freewill Baptist Church and a member of ILGWU. She played basketball in 1939 and 1940 at Mars Hill High School. She was one of the strongest democrats in WNC and had worked on several presidential, senatorial and congressional cam- paigns. Lois had worked for Hadley Corporation for 30 years in several capacities; lopper, supervisor in the cutting dept. and sales person in the outlet store. Surviving are her daughters,
