North Buncombe shows its heart

Benevolence is one thing North

Buncombe is not short on and it showed in 2010. Many gave to the Haiti earth-

quake relief efforts at the beginning of the year, including Girl Scout Troop 26 and Becky Payne’s third- grade class at North Buncombe El- ementary School.

Te Rotary Club gave dictionaries

to Weaverville Elementary School. A 5-K run for epilepsy was held at

North Buncombe High School. Many turned out for fundraisers

for locals, such as Asheville Montes- sori School student Phoebe Miller, North Buncombe resident Don Garrison and Freda Walden.

Robby Parker, Brenda Jarrett and

Molly Wilson rode on the bikes to South Carolina to raise money for multiple sclerosis. Te Weaverville Police Depart-

ment and the Town of Woodfin also raised money for Christmas-time needs for the underprivileged in their communities.
