CT-EMS

FareTec Inc. has created a Leg Traction device capable of achieving adequate traction on all sized patients while still fitting into a small 1lb. synch sac. The CT-EMS uses the latest materials and technology to create a splint that is easy to use, functional, reliable and cost effective! Every unit uses tubes made of Carbon Fiber, which makes the splint both strong and light. The CT-EMS comes out of the bag with all of its straps attached and ready to go. It is applied with the same logic as a Hare style splint, so al- most no new education is necessary.

Traction is achieved by utilizing a 4:1 pulley purchase block that is connected to the ankle hitch. This ankle hitch is also universal, design to fit pediatrics, as well as large ski boots. The 4:1 pulley system allows the splint to be

Lenoir Community College

Lenoir Community College is one in a system of many that offers Emergency Medical Technician training, but it is the only community col- lege to offer EMT Ba-

sic, EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic training online, an innovative and creative way to bring the classroom into a stu- dent’s environment.

Offering EMT online is a perfect fit for reaching rural or re- mote areas.

The first step away from the routine was to create a skills lab that offered the EMS people continuous access to the EMS training equipment.

LCC has also established a simulation lab, fully equipped and with an operational indoor ambulance simulator with mon- itors and cameras for better assessment and review of proce- dures on ambulance transports. Scenario rooms also add an additional training opportunity for students.

powerful, yet precise. This makes it ideal for extra large and small patients, no matter how long the transport time. For every pound of traction exerted by the medic, 4 pound are placed on the patient. At the same time, if one inch of line is pulled through the block, the patient’s leg is only adjusted a ¼ inch. It’s this micro adjustment combined with its Carbon Fiber construction that makes this splint truly unique and an easy choice for first responders, mil- itary medics, EMT’s, ski patrol, etc. There’s good rea- son why it’s used in militaries throughout the world, including the US ARMY; it works. Training video avail- able.
