Visitors will see a console from the

blockhouse of Complex 19, which was the launch site for NASA’s two-man Gemini program that flew 10 missions in 1965 to 1966 to develop and practice flight operations needed to land men on the Moon during Project Apollo. Also inside is a newgift shopwith many

unique items operated by the U.S. Air Force Space & Missile Museum Foundation, Inc., a non-profit community organization dedicated to assisting the Air Force in telling the story of Cape Canaveral. There is no admission fee for the history

center, which is at 100 Space Port Way at the end of State Road 401. Turn right at the last stoplight as you approach the security gate to the air station and follow the blue signs. It is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.

Call (321) 730-0055 for more information or visit CapeMuseum.org. Meanwhile, the main Air Force Space & Missile Museum is located at Complex 26, site of America’s first successful satellite launch into orbit. Guests may explore the original blockhouse, tour an exhibit hall with a complete German V-2 rocket engine and walk around an outdoor “Rocket Garden” that is home to many static displays of missiles, launch vehicles and other artifacts. Because the Cape is a secure and restricted area, the museum is accessible only by organized group tours. The 45th Space Wing Public Affairs Office offers a free public tour the second Wednesday of every month. Call (321) 494-5949 for more information.

All tours are subject to cancellation due to safety concerns surrounding launch operations.
