Established in St. Augustine in 1856, the Florida Historical Society is the oldest cultural organization in the state, dedicated to preserving Florida’s past.

The Moores were parents, educators, and leading local and national civil rights activists. A 5,000 square-foot cultural center is located on the property of the original Moore family home site and is dedicated to preserving African American history complete with Moore family artifacts, historical documents and, currently, a timeline of strategic events of the pre-civil rights era beginning with slavery.
