All of these sports are available to dogs both on full registration or limited registration with AKC, and they can do quite well in any sport. Most breeders en- joy seeing their puppies, whom the do not deem “show quality” for one reason or other, go to companion homes and earn titles in any of the above mentioned sports/activities and stay active.

dogs that may be along on visits to hospitals, child- rens homes, retirement home and such. The dogs are used for therapeutic reasons, so people who are not able to get out and about or have their own dog to be able to spend time with an animal. Typically the dogs must enjoy being petted, and spend relaxed time with patients and such. It requires a sound temperament dog to not have issues with being touched, or getting overly excited.

Tracking dogs must have a strong sense of smell and drive to follow the smell/trail. In this sport/event the dog is doing most of the work, while the handler is mainly a helper. Tracking dogs are use for searching out scents and finding game. A dog can earn three AKC Tracking titles, each has an increased degree of difficulty. The TD (Tracking Dog) title must be earned before competing for a TDX (Tracking Dog Excellent) or VST (Variable Surface Tracker) title. A Champion Tracker (CT) is awarded only to those dogs that have earned all three tracking titles – TD, TDX and VST. If a dog is awarded the CT title, he is among the elite of those dogs active in tracking.

Other certificates that are possible with you and your dog is the Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) and ATTS Temperament Test and both of these tests have age re- quirements for testing them. These tests/certifications are a great ways to showcase your dog is a good citi- zen! Both of these show he has manners like sit, stay, down and can wait for you to return but the ATTS Temperament Test goes a step further by focusing on and measures different aspects of temperament such as stability, shyness, aggressiveness, and friendliness

Many thanks go to all of the contributors, who kindly shared photos of their awesome Manchester Terriers, participating in AKC titled events.

Having experienced it for myself, it is extremely re- warding to spread your wings with your conformation titled dog, and become a true team in another ring. Our breed is truly versatile!
