THE FEDERATION’S NEW LOOK WEBSITE

HAVE YOUR SAY. We now invite you to ‘Have Your Say’ not only by reporting in detail a specific issue, although this option is still available, but also by allowing you to have a free hand to say in confidence and anonymously what you think of all things RAF. We would like you to tell us about any aspect of RAF life, for good or bad. Only by letting us know will we then be able to pass the message to those senior RAF staffs and ministers who can made a difference. Are you happy with your lot? Is RAF life everything you dreamed it would be? or Is it not quite the lifestyle you had in mind or were led to believe it would be?

Does the RAF cater well for every aspect of your career and life progression?

Now that you have a family, is the RAF keeping up with your partner’s and children’s growing needs?

On the website we have also provided a questionnaire for you to fill in to guide us on the sorts of issues we are interested in. Be assured that nothing you tell us will be individually identified. We feed the

senior RAF staff and ministers with current thoughts and trends. The advantage of telling the RAF Families Federation is that we are independent of the RAF and have the shortest reporting chain, from you to the RAF Families Federation to senior RAF and MOD staffs and/or to Ministers. There is limited staffing of the family input and no dilution of the message. We report as you say it.

INSTANT POLL. On the homepage we now have a question on a topical theme asking you for a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. The question will change regularly and will enable us to track current opinion. It will also allow you to see the percentage results of the poll.

THE MAGAZINE. The magazine has been available to view on line for some time with the option to view back copies. Now it is possible to email the editor direct with letters, photos, articles and of course the option to receive your own copy by free subscription.

UNIT VISIT PROGRAMME. Our outline Unit visit programme will now feature on the home page with times and venues as they become available from Units. Also available on the site will be our visit reports available a day or two after we return to the office.

NEWS. Topical news stories are already placed on the scrolling news, but now it is visible as you enter the home page and there is the facility to call up all the news stories as they have appeared for easy reference.

PROVIDING EVIDENCE TO THE NATIONAL AUDIT OFFICE

A

s further evidence of the high regard in which Service Families Fedeations are held, the National Audit Office

has visited the RAF FF to gather evidence to inform their ‘Value of Money’ analysis of the MOD’s provision of Service Families Accommodation.

Based on the evidence provided by RAF families via Unit visits and the Issues database we were able to provide the ‘light blue’ perspective of DE/MHS performance and made recommendations for improved communication between the service providers and the customers – RAF families living in SFA.
