Good evening and a warm welcome back to the Greenhous Meadow, for our first Cup game of the season, where we welcome ‘The Addicks’ from Charlton Athletic. It is not so long ago, that Charlton were regarded as a mid table Premier League Club, and within only a couple of seasons, they have fallen to League 1. It shows how easy this can happen. What a magnificent day on Saturday, with nearly 7000 in the ground and the atmosphere created, on the back of a superb performance, making the opening Saturday, a real day to remember. Shrewsbury Town, have always been seen as a club with great cup tradition, however, over recent years, our ‘Cup’ results have been indifferent. Evening games do have something special, and hopefully tonight can give us the start of a nice cup run. Saturday will be our first away fixture, with the relatively short trip to Macclesfield Town. This fixture is usually one that our away supporters pick out as a ‘must go to’, so we may well have 1000 fans at Moss Rose this weekend. Let’s hope so. Tonight I would like to welcome Severn Business Network who are our match sponsors and hope they have a really enjoyable evening. Once again, get behind the lads. Come On You Blue Boys!
